Amigos officially
opened its doors to customers on Tuesday 17th November.
Were we ready? Well not really. An inexperienced team and most of the
kitchen still being built…… but we opened. And people came…..and
ate…….and drunk…….and came back again……. And liked it!!!!
Now
we are in the middle of week 2 and there is a sense of rhythm and order
setting in. The team are getting into their stride and gaining
confidence. |

Prosper - Amigos' Manager - securing the front door. |
Currently we are
open from 8am till 11pm Monday to Saturday. We would like to bring in
Sunday afternoon/evening soon so that the Kampala Church crowd has a new
place to meet after service too. Prosper is in the process of organizing
the team into a shift pattern so that no one is burnt out and we have
the right staffing levels at busy times. |
|
What next?
·
We will be
starting a promotion/marketing campaign within the next few weeks so
that all of Wandegeya knows we are there.
·
The menu will
become permanent once we are confident we have the choice people want on
the temporary menu.
·
The evening BBQ
will begin soon.
·
We can begin to
explore outside catering and delivery when the team has the capacity to
handle it.
·
Etc Etc
Etc………………….. |

First cup of coffee! .................and burger -
mmmm

It
is exciting to see this become a reality after all the months of
searching/praying and planning.
Please pray for the team and the development of business, including
effective marketing. This may sound like a very worldly prayer request,
but bear in mind the potential we have here to support our volunteers
and contribute locally to YEA ministry.
Thanks again to all of you who have been a part of getting AMIGOS off
the drawing board and into reality. |

Coffee Shop! 14th Oct 09
After a long search we have
signed a lease today on a property for AMIGOS.
We have a 1st floor corner premises with wrap around balcony for
extra seating in the heart of Wandegeya, the busy
student/business district near the main University campus.
The property is in good condition and has power, running water,
a private toilet and the bare bones of a kitchen. These features
put us ahead as we had anticipated needing to build much of this
ourselves.
Now the real work begins. I am meeting with Prosper (Project
manager) tomorrow to begin planning out the
design/layout/equipment etc needed to get the Coffee Shop going.
Please pray with us over the next few busy weeks as we
equip/recruit and stock up ready to open.
Thank you all for your prayers over the past few months as we
have been looking for the right place.
Next time you are in Kampala please drop by for a delicious cup
of freshly brewed Ugandan Coffee.....
